BioExx is the only company to be able to commercially capture and capitalize on the high-value proteins in canola/rapeseed. Traditionally, canola seed is used for the oil for food and meal for feed. Through BioExx’s patented and proprietary technology, the company is able to separate and isolate high value and nutritional proteins, thus adding value to the world’s second largest oil seed crop.
The company is currently focused on three products:
- Isolexx™ - 90%+ Canola Protein Isolate
- Advantexx™ - 80%+ Isolated Canola Protein
- Vitalexx™ - Hydrolyzed Canola Protein
Canada is the world’s largest exporter of Canola and related seeds, with a total annual production of over 12,400,000 tonnes in 2009. It is one of the world’s leading oilseeds with recognized health advantages due to its excellent balance of fatty acids.Canola protein has an excellent amino acid profile, on par with many animal proteins and superior to most vegetable proteins, with more than 100% of the essential amino acids required for both adults and children. BioExx Canola proteins are nutritionally complete with Amino Acid scores greater than 1.10(FAO 2007) and are fully digestible.
While anti-nutrients and flavour components previously hindered the use of this protein as a food grade material, BioExx has successfully overcome these obstacles at commercial scale by decreasing anti-nutrients by as much as 90%, improving nutritional value, flavour and odour.
